In loving memory ~

It is with sadness that we announce that Marjorie Esther Ruth Robinson (Dingley) passed away peacefully on October 9th 2024, after a courageous struggle with illness. She was 94 years old. Her long life was fulfilled with her family, music, church, and achievements in her passions. Predeceased by husband Arthur John Robinson, her parents Wilfrid & Leah Dingley, brother-in-law William Girling, brother & sister in-law George & Priscilla Nisbet, and daughter Julie Schulze (Robinson).

Born in Calgary on October 6th, 1930, Marjorie was the second daughter of Wilfred and Leah Dingley. Marjorie's early years included family trips to Banff, participation in school musicals and singing in radio choirs. She met Arthur Robinson, her future husband, while working at the air force base in Calgary in the early 1950's. They married on November 3, 1956, in Hillhurst United Church in Calgary.

Settling initially in Vancouver, then Victoria, and finally Nanaimo in 1967, the couple had three children, all daughters! Throughout their 64 years together, they shared joys and sorrows together with no regrets, thankful for their years of marriage. Marj & Art were devoted members of the United Church; first at Wellington, then with Trinity United in the former Nanaimo Ecumenical Centre. Marjorie gave her musical talents and organizational skills to many church events and weekly functions.

Marjorie had a creative spirit not to be ignored: pursuing photography, painting, and other craft work throughout her lifetime. Her love of learning and research showed in her genealogical studies. Marjorie connected an extended family tree, parts of which date back to the 16th Century.

She leaves behind her sister Dorothy Girling in Calgary, niece Wendy Girling, also in Calgary, daughters Donna Robinson in Nanaimo, Helen Robinson in Burnaby, son-in-law Ralf Schulze in Campbell River, and various cousins spread throughout Canada, the United States and England.

Marjorie will be remembered for her warmth and concern for family & friends, the practical lessons she taught so many of us and the desire to show care to others whose paths crossed hers. A remembrance of her life and dedication of her donated paintings will take place within the regular service at Trinity United on 6011 Doumont Road on December 1st, at 10:30 am.
