In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Marilyn Konkin.
Marilyn was born in Grand Forks and spent most of her life in the valley. She married Alex Konkin and they built a home and started their family. Marilyn was an avid gardener. She kept an immaculate yard lined with daffodils in the spring and summer flowers to brighten her huge vegetable garden.
She was very community-minded volunteering at the USCC center as part of a cooking group, and also at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store. She was proud of the equipment that the thrift store could purchase for their local hospital.
Marilyn also had the opportunity to travel. She would fly to Mexico, bus to the Yukon and the southern and eastern seaboard of the United States, but her playground would be the Osoyoos, Christina and Jewel Lakes.
She stayed close with her brothers and sisters, Hazel Waselenkoff (Bill), Emily Zibin(Fred), Pete Koochin (Anne), Harry Koochin (Elsa) and Nettie Makortoff (Fred ) but also her brothers-in-law, Sarge (Fern), Peter (Mary), and Fred (JoAnna) Konkin.
Mom's favourite times were spent with friends and family. She would lovingly feed anyone who dropped in to see her.
She will be missed by her children, Barry Konkin (Gladys), Luba Hall (Patrick), Terry Nearing and all her grandchildren.
