October 19, 1933 - November 15, 2022
Sadly, we say goodbye to Marie Patricia Mittendorf (nee Adams), age 89. She passed away in hospice in the early hours of Tuesday, November 15th, 2022, after a sudden and intense battle with lymphoma. Marie was born on October 19th, 1933 in Wellington, New Zealand.
She is predeceased by her mother Eileen, father Leicester and siblings Leslie, Joy and Michael.
Marie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred; her four children Eileen Karmali, Michelle Rinald, John Mittendorf and Shirley MacLennan, her grandchildren Jayson Nicol, Evan and Kieran Rinald, Kalen, Jaden and Justin MacLennan, Zain, Inara and Imran Karmali. She was also blessed to welcome twin great grandchildren last year, Beau and Briar Rinald.
Marie graduated from nursing in New Zealand, before moving to Vancouver, BC. She had a long, rewarding nursing career, spanning from maternity to long-term care. Always the caregiver, she made sure everyone around her was "looked after", even from her bedside.
Marie was an avid knitter, always with a project on the go. Gardening was another love of hers - she put countless hours into making her garden come to life.
Known to her loved ones as the hummingbird whisperer, she cared for and fed them until the very end. She made sure we knew the feeder recipe and that we should all continue this for her.
A Celebration of Life to be held December 11th, 2022, 11:00 am, Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 - 216th Street, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 5H9.
