In loving memory ~

With heavy hearts, the family of Maria Antonia Fogolin announce her passing at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Maria was born in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, to parents Giuseppe and Luigia Fogolin, the fourth of five children. At the age of nineteen, Maria and her family emigrated to Canada, eventually settling in Castlegar.

Maria's father was a tailor and she followed in his footsteps, becoming a talented seamstress in her own right, lending her skills to many clothing businesses in town. In the late seventies, Maria opened her own shop where she worked until she retired.

Maria was an active member of St. Rita's Catholic Church; her faith was central to her life. She enjoyed outings with family and friends and frequent coffee dates.

Maria was predeceased by her parents, brothers Fiorenzo and Tarcisio, sisters Fiorenza and Rosa, brother-in-law Eugene Demeo and niece Lorraine Helgesson. Left to mourn her loss are her niece Louise Demeo, nephews Michael Demeo and Tom(Heather)Demeo, great-nieces Christina and Michaela and great-nephew Thomas.

Vigil prayers will be on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 7:00 pm at St. Rita's Church. Mass of Christian

Burial will be celebrated by Father Aaron de Dios on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:30 am, followed by interment at Park Memorial Cemetery.

Maria will be remembered as a kind, compassionate and generous person whose friendship benefited many.

She was blessed with ninety-five years of life but to us Zia will always be "only twenty-one"!
