In Loving Memory ~
Marg passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023, at Discovery Harbour Care Home in Campbell River, B.C. In the days leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by her precious family, filling her room with laughter and tears. We know she heard every word too. When Margaret decided to go, her loving daughter, Catherine, was by her side, holding her hand.
Marg was born in Prince Rupert, B.C. It was where her love of native art, killer whales, and bald-eagles began. She wore the crown as Prince Rupert May Queen in her early teens, as well as being an exceptional softball, baseball, and basketball player in high school and continued those sports after having her two children.
She met, her husband of 61 years, James Dobinson, in Castlegar, B.C. One night, he was leaving the pub with a case of Lucky beer under his arm, she followed him, and the rest is history! Marg and Jim were married and had a son and a daughter. It was in 1964 they moved to Campbell River, B.C., where they raised their children and made so many memories.
Marg loved to travel and fulfilled her bucket list. She went to several Olympic Games over the years and, in her later years, spent time with Jim travelling to Melaque, Mexico, which they called their second home.
She worked hard and loved her family harder. She leaves behind her husband, Jim, and her son, Jim Jr. (Jennifer), her daughter, Catherine (Michael), four treasured grandchildren, Lauren, Cole, Kelsey (Jay), and Jordyn; two great grandchildren, Brayden and Ellie, her brother, Gordon of Prince Rupert, B.C.; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and great friends.
Marg is predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Charles Youngman, and her siblings, Leonard, Robert, Sidney, Nina, Lorraine, Madeleine, and her best friend/sister, Annette.
The last few years of her life she spent at Discovery Harbour Care Centre battling dementia, but, never forgot those she loved.
The family would like to thank Dr. W. Prinsloo and Dr. V. Veerapen, as well as her care team at Discovery Harbour. They all called her nanny and loved her quick wit and huge smile. Their care and love towards our mom did not go unnoticed, and we are forever grateful for this.
She always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. She will never be forgotten and will always be in our most blessed memories.
We will carry her in our hearts forever.
