In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved wife and mother, Margaret Burdge went home to be with her Lord. She was the fourth of six children born to Gilbert and Iris Fuller in Burnaby. Family was always important to Marg, and she is terribly missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Gordon, her children Jennifer (Trent), Michael (Laura), Christopher (Sharon), grandchildren Wren, Ava, Oscar, Isaac, and Elliot, as well as her siblings Gordon (Mary), Grace (Al), Iris, Gilbert (Linda), Ruth (Ian) and many nieces and nephews. Gordon and Marg fell in love as teenagers, married in Victoria in 1968, and moved to the Cowichan Valley in 1971.
Helping others was an integral part of who Marg was as she was raised to live the Salvation Army motto of "Heart to God, hand to man". She loved people, and was a second mother, grandmother and a good friend to countless children and adults over the years. She welcomed everyone into her lovely home, whether for a cup of tea or to stay for a while—friends, strangers who became friends, and those in need of refuge or a safe and loving place to call home.
She was especially kind to children, and over the years was a foster parent, daycare provider, youth leader, camp director, and Sunday school music leader. She loved music, and had a beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed being on her church music teams, and staged many Christmas concerts and productions. She loved to work in her garden and to watch the birds at her feeders.
Marg's celebration of life service will be held on April 15th, 2023 at Camp Imadene.
The family would like to thank the many health care workers who contributed to Marg's care in the past few years as she dealt with cancer. The kindness shown by the nurses (especially the chemo team), aides, ER staff, paramedics, supporting staff and her doctors Attwell, Adzich, Masuda, and Tsang was noticed and appreciated.
If you would like to make a donation in Marg's memory, please consider Camp Imadene or the BC Cancer Foundation (ovarian cancer research).
