On the morning of Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Lynda Lorraine Jones passed away peacefully at home in Cranbrook at the age of 66 years. Lynda was born on March 12, 1957, in Canora, Saskatchewan, and was one of seven children born to her parents, William and Sylvia Wasylenchuk. Lynda spent her early years on the farm near Stenen, SK, before moving to Sturgis, SK. Lynda then moved to Calgary and it was here that she met her husband.
Lynda loved to cook amazing meals. She was the most generous and loving person you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. When she was able, she loved needlework crafts and enjoyed camping and the outdoors when her health permitted. On February 14, 1981, Lynda married Harold Jones and enjoyed family life with Harold. Lynda's work life included being the Order Desk Clerk for her brother-in-law's carpet store, Peerless Carpet Wholesaler in Calgary. For a few years, Lynda ran the hot dog stand in the Tamarack Centre. Her friendly face and her quaint little hotdog kiosk were loved by many. Lynda also spent a few years at Kootenay Kwik Print and both Lynda and Harold made long-lasting friendships from her work there. Lynda will be remembered and missed by her beloved family and her huge circle of friends.
Left behind to miss Lynda are her beloved husband of 42 years, Harold Jones (Jonesy), stepson Andrew and stepdaughter Laura (Randy) and three step-grandchildren Cameron, Dylan and Kira. She also leaves one brother Willy (Lorraine) Wasylenchuk, three sisters; Helen Brisby, Alice Lunn, Shirley (George) Lang and one sister-in-law Otillia (Tilly). Lynda was predeceased by her parents, William and Sylvia Wasylenchuk, brothers Harry and Metro Wasylenchuk.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Lynda on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eagles Hall. Memorial donations may be made in Lynda's memory to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 3032, 711 Kootenay St. N., Cranbrook, BC V1C 3V1
