December 5, 1970 - November 5, 2022
In loving memory ~
Lorne Pukas of High River, Alberta passed away surrounded by his family at the High River hospital on November 5th, 2022 after a very brave battle with cancer.
Lorne is survived by his loving wife Roxanne; children Lindsay Pukas (Wyatt Bezak), Cole Pukas and Danielle Pukas; as well as two beautiful grandchildren Kase Bezak and Harper Bezak. Lorne is also survived by his mother Carol Young, father Peter Pukas (Virginia); and sister Leesa Salviulo (Gino).
Lorne was born in Golden, B.C. and had an avid love of the outdoors enjoying camping, hunting, fishing, and
riding his motorcycles. His adventurous spirit employed him with BC Forestry as an initial attack firefighter; after which he and Roxanne settled in High River in 1999, and Lorne began his career as a powerline technician in 2001 with Fortis Alberta. Lorne was extremely proud to work for Fortis and this pride was always evident in his work ethic and commitment to every aspect of his job. However, his greatest pride was his children. He was always front and center in all their activities, lending a hand and being their greatest cheerleader. Lorne loved hard, worked hard, and played hard.
Lorne will be greatly missed. His quick wit and sense of humor were next to none and for those that were lucky enough to have experienced his personality most likely have a memory or story that will live on forever.
A very special thank you to Dr. Adam Vyse and Dr. Derek Kuechler of the High River Hospital, along with numerous nurses that tirelessly helped Lorne through his hardest days, and the doctors and nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for doing the hardest job imaginable and keeping the fight alive. A huge thank you to our friends and family that have offered their love and support, and to the many people who have brought flowers, food and gifts and an endless amount of love to help our family through this time.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Lorne at the High River Memorial Centre on December 13th at 11:00 am.
