In loving memory ~
Lois Gertrude Baskin went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 8 in Vernon, BC. Lois is preceded in death by her father & mother, all 11 of her brothers & sisters, as well as her loving husband, Bert. She is survived by her children; Mark (Brenda) Baskin, Rob (Brenda) Baskin, Janice (Ken) Bigelow, Kathy (Lloyd) Goetz and Terry (Jane) Baskin, 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Lois was born August 12, 1925, the 7th child of William Ernest Brown and Alice Maud Smith in Ottawa, ON. While at London Bible Institute, she met Bertram Hugh Baskin & shortly after graduation they married on Aug 4, 1951. They served the Lord as missionaries in Chad, Africa from 1952 to 1965. Lois served alongside Bert as a faithful pastor's wife in Welland and Fort Erie, ON, Montreal, PQ, in Vanderhoof, B.C. and in Hamilton, ON.
She worked in the bookstore while Bert taught at Peace River Bible Institute in Sexsmith, AB. She worked in the office while Bert served as Assistant Director for Northern Canada Evangelical Mission in Prince Albert, SK. They then moved to Clairmont, AB and served with Shantymen Christian Association for 8 years. During those years they traveled countless miles visiting small northern communities. They were active in senior's ministry, chaplain volunteering and starting a community inter-denominational luncheon in Grand Prairie & Vernon. They retired in 1995 but continued volunteering where they could, including with the Bridges to New Life Society. Lois shared all these adventures with her beloved husband of 61 years, until his death in 2012.
Memorial Service to be held May 13, 2022 @ 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Vernon, with lunch to follow.
