Linda Olson

October 30, 1946 – March 26, 2022
In Loving Memory ~
Linda Olson was born on October 30, 1946 to Herman and Aimee Messerli, née Stunzi, in Lethbridge, Alberta. The family relocated to Vancouver BC in 1948, where she grew up.
Always adventurous, she moved to Hawaii early on. After her return to Vancouver, she met the love of her life, Douglas Olson, and they soon married. Thanks to their fine hospitality, a house in North Vancouver became a mecca for relatives in Alberta, New Jersey, and even Australia.
Linda’s career in banking included a long stint in the loan department of a down-town Vancouver bank. When the Olsons finally decided to retire, they moved to a lovely home in Duncan, on Vancouver Island.
However, they didn’t miss a beat and guests at their abode might enjoy visits to a winery, a cidery, a raptor center, a meal at a restaurant in “Cow Bay”, a boat ride, or a trek to the historic Kinsol Trestle-Bridge.
The Olsons also loved golfing on a nearby course, as well as spending their winters in sunny Arizona.
An Alberta cousin shared these telling words: “What stands out the most though is when Linda flew to Alberta and helped take care of my mom. ……… Linda stayed with them for about 2 weeks, cooking, entertaining and generally making their lives happy.” and “How she loved the skies with the stars and planets. She had purchased this amazing telescope and brought it to our place to view the planets.”
Linda passed away on March 26, 2022. She will be remembered for her enthusiasm for adventures, traveling, golf, cooking, her fine wine selections, entertaining, as well as her love of family. She was the cool aunt who would enjoy games with the “littles”, as well as the adults.
Predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Douglas Olson, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew, Linda is survived by her brother, Herman of Vancouver, BC, her brother Edwin (Judy) of Vermont, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is also survived by her beloved aunt in Alberta, Madelyn Christie.
The family thanks the staff at Sunridge Place in Duncan for their loving care, as well as Dianne Martin, a dear friend of the Olsons. She regularly visited Linda and kindly shared her take on how she was doing up until the day that she passed.
