In Loving Memory ~
Lillian Doreen Stevens (90 years) of Nanaimo B.C., peacefully passed away on Sept. 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving husband of 65 years Gerald James Stevens and many of her loving family.
She leaves behind her three children, Debbie (Charlie) Ritchie, Karen (Rod) Dovey and Tom Stevens. Five Grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
Lillian was the third child of 12 siblings to parents John Eric Palmer and Edith Beulah Palmer. Born in Chartersis, Quebec on Feb. 8, 1933 and raised on the farm along side her grandparents, parents and siblings.
Lillian left the farm to work in Ottawa. She works at the Air Material Command Headquarters at RCAF station Rockcliffe, Ontario. Where she meets Gerald Stevens who was in the RCAF. On March 15, 1958 they were married.
Mom & dad lived in many places in Canada – Ottawa, Montreal, Belleville, Ontario, Cold Lake, Alberta. Retiring in Nanaimo dad’s hometown in July 1976.
Lil enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, puzzles and ceramics. She received an Award of Merit in 1975 in Cold Lake for her volunteering in ceramics from the base commander.
She gave blood for 20 years or more and when she had heart problems she had to quit giving. She took over the job of co-ordinator of volunteers.
A job she enjoyed for over 20 years and received the “2004 Canadian Blood Service Award”.
They enjoyed traveling with many trips to Edmonton to visit family. Traveling across Canada and also to Yuma, Florida and all the way to Alaska, USA.

Celebration of life to held October 28th, at 256th Legion Nanaimo. 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
