In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather at his young age of 88 years. Lem passed peacefully with the love of his life, Maureen at his side.
Lem was born in Duncan, B.C. and grew up in Vancouver before moving to Port Alberni for the rest of his adult life. In Port Alberni, he married his wife Maureen of 65 years and worked at the Alberni Plywoods before retiring in 1991.
Predeceased by his parents Wong Quan Quey and Wong Lim Shee, his siblings Fong, Lin, Susan, Kay, Ming, Mae, Jim, Bill, Bea, York and Edward and son in-law Robert. He leaves behind his wife Maureen (Ko), daughter April Watt, son Van, granddaughter Amanda Jade Watt, foster grandkids and great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.
Lem had a passion for refereeing basketball and umpiring softball. He spent many years cooking at the Chinese Society food booth at the annual Fall Fair. Lem enjoyed going to numerous dances with Maureen and jiving with her. He was a fixture at the Community Pool and spent many days playing cards and pool at the Royal Canadian Legion. He always looked forward to his trips to Hawaii.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 Saturday March 4th, 2023 at the Alberni Athletic Hall, 3727 Roger Street, Port Alberni B.C.
