February 28, 1936 - August 8, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Larry Kivell. He passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2024, at Chilliwack General Hospital.

Lorne was born on February 28, 1936, in Chatham, Ontario. He served 27 years in the Canadian Armed Forces and was stationed in numerous places across Canada and did a stint as a Peacekeeper with the United Nations in Egypt.

He met and married his wife, Delores, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1957 and together they raised 3 children, Laurie, Tim and Rob. The family moved to Chilliwack in 1974. Lorne loved Chilliwack and spent the next 50 years there.

After retiring from the Armed Forces, he worked at CFB Chilliwack as a civilian employee until retiring at age 65.

Lorne was an active member of the St. John's Anglican Church community. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies at Kinkora Golf Course and socialising with his many friends over coffee. Lorne was an avid sports fan and particularly loved to cheer on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Lorne is predeceased by his wife, Delores (2015), and survived by his children, Laurie (Joe d.2020), Tim (Janice) and Rob (Siobhan), 7 grandchildren, Giustino, Michele, Maria, Nathan, Renee, Nicola and Meaghan; and 2 great-grandchildren Giuseppe and Giovanni.

He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held October 2, 2024, at 2pm at St John's Anglican Church, 46098 Higginson Rd, Chilliwack.
