In loving memory ~
Lauri Kalevi Asikainen was born in Viipuri, Finland. He was working as an electrician in Helsinki when he met his wife, Anja Anneli, who was working as a children's nurse. Anita was born in Helsinki in 1964.
In 1968, the family moved to Edmonton, Alberta, and Susan was born in 1969. In 1973, the family moved to Kitimat, B.C. Lauri worked as an electrician at Eurocan Pulp and Paper for 46 years and was a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He enjoyed the outdoors with his family and friends, camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking. During his retirement, Dad enjoyed golfing, watching Formula 1, and being in the yard. Ukki loved watching his grandchildren's sports and extracurricular activities and was proud of each of them and their accomplishments.
Dad was kind and patient, a devoted husband and father. He asked for little and gave us so much in return. He loved life and fought hard to stay with us as long as he could.
Dad is survived by his daughters Anita and Susan (Kevin), Grandchildren Kyle, Hayden, Mattias, Kent, and Mila, and family in Finland.
Lauri was predeceased by his wife, Anja, and his parents, Toivo and Lempi.
The family wishes to extend thanks to all who helped and for the support given at the time of the loss of our dear Dad and Ukki.
