August 4, 1943 - June 12, 2023
In loving memory ~
Brian passed away at Shuswap General Hospital on June 12 at the age of 79. Brian was born on August 4, 1943 to Sidney and Marion Marr and grew up in North Vancouver. In 1968 he married Rochelle (Roy) and in 1969 moved to Salmon Arm to join the Medical Clinic.
In 2005 Brian retired from his general practice. He then reinvented himself by taking up a new and much-loved position doing surgical assists at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital for the next 12 years.
Brian was involved in many areas of the community. He volunteered on the ambulance crew and helped train paramedics, he served on the school board, and he was a drug and alcohol counselor in both Salmon Arm and Round Lake. He was known as "Scouter Brian" in the 1st Salmon Arm Scouts.
Brian loved music and played the saxophone in the Community Band, and keyboard and saxophone in the Black 'n' Bluez Band. He also loved singing in the inter-generational choir.
Brian always found time for hobbies including trains, diesel engines, and anything steam-powered. He enjoyed building, wiring, and plumbing. He repaired anything that was broken. Brian could often be found in his oil-stained work clothes maintaining his own vehicles, as well as his children's and grandchildren's, and over the years he restored several antique cars and trucks to their original condition.
Brian will be sorely missed by his wife of 55 years, Rochelle; brother, Al (Shannon (Seed), Cameron and families); his children, Braden (Leila), Travis, Daidri, and Quinton (Sylvia); seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
There will be no funeral, but a gathering will be held at a later date.
