In loving memory ~
It is with heavy and broken hearts that we share the heartbreaking loss of our treasured Karrie Anne. Karrie was predeceased in death by her beloved parents, Jack and Margaret Larsen. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, her children and their respective families, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Larsen, and her extended family. She also leaves behind many cherished friends who were like family to her. She was an old soul and a bright light whose warmth and kind spirit left a lasting mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Karrie was born in Vancouver and later moved to Burnaby, where she met the love of her life and best friend, Don Stricker. The two shared an unbreakable bond and together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. In 1981, they moved to Vancouver Island, where they raised their beautiful family: Brett (Marge), Aaron (Robyn), and Laura. Karrie was a devoted mother, always putting her family first, and she was a dedicated and proud gramma to her beloved grandchildren: Taylor, Emily, Brooklyn, Cale, and Ella. They were her world!
Karrie had a smile that could light up a room, a generous heart that knew no bounds, and a laugh that was infectious. She would move mountains to support her family and friends, always putting others before herself. Her impressive work ethic was evident throughout her career, particularly during her time as the Deli Manager at Safeway and later at Save-On-Foods, where she worked until her retirement.
Outside of work, Karrie was an avid bowler, a rhythmic dancer, and a hostess with the most, infamous for cheffing up delicious meals for her loved ones. She had style and grace and always carried a big smile on her face, no matter the circumstances.
Karrie fought a strong and courageous fight, and while we are deeply saddened by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that she is now free of pain and dancing her way to her next adventure. She was loved a thousand times over and will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
On behalf of Karrie, her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her doctor, Dr. Chidi Okereke, for his thoughtful care and the sincere connection he shared with her during her battle. She truly adored you and deeply appreciated your compassionate ways. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to all the nurses, ER doctors, and other specialists whose kindness and support made a difficult time more bearable. We are forever grateful for the work that you do!
A Celebration of Life in Karrie's honor will be held in the days ahead.
Until we meet again... "take a load off, Karrie."
We will see you in our dreams.
