March 19, 1947 - December 28, 2022
In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sorrow that the family of Karl Victor Desjarlais announce his passing on the morning of December 28th, 2022, after a tenacious and hard-fought battle against a terrible cancer at the age of 75 years.
Karl was born in Clearwater, B.C. on March 19th, 1947. The people of the Bulkley Valley will long remember Karl as a colorful and active member in his early years as an energetic horseman of the old "Saddle Club", with its play days, racing, and gymcana get togethers; his skills as a hunter along with his abilities as a timber faller, learning at his father's side, Victor Desjarlais.
Karl spent many hours in an older, but dear, blue "Mac" logging truck, hauling to the local mills, and finally contract logging for Pacific Inland Resources for many years, until the lure of helicopters kept him in the air as a very talented pilot and base manager for Highland Helicopters.
Much later, Karl was employed by Interior Helicopters until 2011 when he retired at the age of 65. Together Karl and his wife Ginny moved to the Creston Valley where they built a pretty little cabin in a "mountain meadow".
Karl was predeceased by his parents Vivadel and Victor Desjarlais.
Karl will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ginny, son Rocky, sister Bertha (Brian) Woods, stepdaughter Leslie Kerr as well as numerous nieces and nephews in B.C. and Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the BC Cancer Foundation 150 -686 W. Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1G1.
