Karin passed away peacefully Sunday June 26 at Berwick on the Lake.
Predeceased by her brother Terry Howander in 2013, she is survived by her beloved sister Gail Otto (Dennis), her dearly loved nieces, Genevieve Foglietta (Nick) and Teri Otto (David Noble), sister in law Sue Vanin and nephews Oliver and Joergen Howander.
Karin truly enjoyed her volunteer time at Morrell Nature Sanctuary with the trail maintenance crew, the plant sales, helping with road cleanups and anything else that needed doing.
Karin was generous, kind, thoughtful, a good friend, a lover of dogs and nature, excellent seamstress, cook, re-user and problem solver. We will miss her.
Many thanks to Dr. Rose, Dr. Denegri, Nanaimo Community Home Support, BC Cancer Clinics at NRGH and Victoria, Vicki Turner from Nanaimo Hospice who she called her friend, Jane Walters (physio), NRGH Palliative team and Berwick on the Lake LTC staff where she lived the last seven months.
