October 24, 1953 – April 17, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Lynn Borsato. She was born in Trail, B.C. on October 25th, 1953 and entered into rest on April 17th, 2023 with her husband at her side.
Joyce spoke fondly of her childhood memories growing up on a small farm in Fruitvale. She met the love of her life, Bruno while working as a carhop at A&W. They were married on October 9th, 1976 (Thanksgiving weekend). They built a life together in Rivervale along with their two daughters, Pamela and Rebecca. Joyce’s home and family brought her so much happiness and pride. She loved decorating her home for all the seasons and holidays as well as making sure everything was kept just so. She spent many days in the kitchen with her apron on cooking, baking, canning, preparing delicious meals, and working on her recipe collection. While raising her girls, Joyce enjoyed her summers camping at Christina Lake with close friends and family. She always looked forward to her trips to visit the Okanagan, especially once the grandkids arrived and she became “Nonna”. Joyce’s warm heart shone threw while she took on a caregiving role for her aging parents. In her later years, as her health declined, Joyce enjoyed her visits at home with her family and friends, sitting on the front porch with Bruno, and watching her favourite old shows on MeTV. She also looked forward to her daily phone calls with her daughters and grandchildren.
Joyce was predeceased by her father Albert Filippelli, mother-in-law Maria Borsato and father-in-law Riccardo Borsato. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bruno Borsato, her mother Dorothy Filippelli, children Pam (Simon) Goodhall and Rebecca (Ryan) Thompson, grandchildren Jillian, Brielle and Seth Thompson, and her dear friend and neighbor Louise Moretti, as well as many other friends and family.
Joyce’s family would like to thank the excellent staff at Columbia View Lodge for their support and care over the last couple of months, as well as Drs. Fischer, Love and Wile for their support and care during her journey with Parkinson’s Disease.
