In Loving Memory ~
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Dame. He was at peace and looking forward to resurrection day with his heavenly father. He had his loving wife and family by his side.
Ron was one of six children raised by his mother Irene Dame in Duncan: Bob (Marlene), Bev, Linda (Darryl), Cheryl (Dale), Frank (Gail). One of his favourite past-times in Duncan was to go fishing and swimming in the “S”pools. In his early 20s Ron married Edith and they relocated to Kitimat.
In the early 1980s Ron started a new chapter in his life when he moved to Terrace with his three children: Alan, Gina, and Colette. In Terrace he met and married Delphine who also had three children: Delphine Jr, Jason, and Titan. They blended their families into one.
Ron was an avid sports fisherman. He had a large role in developing the Salmon Enhancement program in Terrace. He was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He and wife Delphine started The Bread Of Life soup kitchen and operated it from 1996 – 2020 until his health and Covid made it too difficult to continue.
They were grateful that other community members stepped up to continue on with the soup kitchen.
Ron also worked as a steam plant engineer at Eurocan from 1973 until his retirement in 2004.
Ron’s hard work ethic, love of family, kindness and his compassion were an inspiration to all that knew him. His laugh and sense of humour was contagious: There weren’t many children around that weren’t subjected to the wet finger in the ear prank (The Wet Willie). He also leaves behind a life long love of fishing that he has passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife Delphine, his kids: Alan (Shelley), Gina (Gord), Delphine Jr (Dan), Colette, Jason (Sheena), Titan (Nikki) as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Ron will be greatly missed by family and friends.
