John McNaughton, 91, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, at The Bradley Centre in Chilliwack, BC. Born on April 5, 1933, in Ballentre, Scotland, John immigrated to Canada with his beloved wife, Hilary, and children, seeking new opportunities and a better life in 1957.
In Canada, John dedicated himself to the farming industry, where he worked tirelessly raising Jersey cows. His hard work and commitment to agriculture were evident to all who knew him.
Beyond his professional endeavors, John was a pillar of his community, known for his selflessness and generosity. He volunteered as a driver for the Cancer Society, providing invaluable support to those in need during their medical journeys. John McNaughton was also a dedicated member of the Odd Fellows for many years, embodying their principles of friendship, love, and truth in his everyday life. His commitment to this organization further exemplified his devotion to fostering connections and supporting those in need within his community.
John McNaughton is survived by Daughter, Denise Laird (Jim), Daughter, Fiona Vogt (Gord Mc), Son, Alastair McNaughton (Myrna), and Daughter, Judy Gilbert (Marc). Eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Philip, Jason, Heather, Deidre, Jeremy, Garet, and Alysa. Great-grandchildren Conor, Tamara, Emerson, Demsey, and Stirling.
In addition to his dedication to his community, John and Hilary enjoyed many adventures together. They took several cruises and then bought a motorhome, becoming snowbirds and traveling to Yuma, Arizona, where they enjoyed many winters together.
John McNaughton is now reunited with his beloved wife, Hilary McNaughton, who passed away before him.
There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society in honor of John McNaughton's volunteer work.
John McNaughton will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, compassion, community service, and dedication to the Odd Fellows will continue to inspire generations to come.
