John Micheal Leier

John’s family wishes to announce his peaceful passing on November 30, 2014 in his 90th year. John was a World War II veteran having served with the military police in Belgium, and Germany. After the war John married his wife Pearl in Saskatchewan and after working in various locations in Canada the family settled in Vernon in 1958. John worked in a number of different jobs through the years most notably as owner of a private janitorial service, co-owner with Pearl of the Spudnut Shop, and as a custodian at Beairsto School. After his retirement he was active in the duplicate bridge community for many years. Throughout his life John spent much of his spare time tinkering in his workshop repairing things and creating beautiful objects from wood, stained glass and other materials. John is survived by Pearl his wife of 68 years, daughters Ingrid of Vernon, Valerie Peters (Rob) of Halifax, and son Daryl of Vernon. He is also survived by grandchildren, John-Arthur, Heather, Brendan, and Quincy, and great grandchildren Odin and Elliot. There will be no service by his request.
