September 24, 1934 - March 9, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, caring husband, and doting grandfather. John was a true family man who always put his loved ones first. He lived for his wife, to whom he was devoted for over 50 years, and for his son and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
He was a kind and caring gentleman, always quick with a mischievous smile, and eager to lend some advice.
He loved travelling back to Romania as well as Germany to visit friends and family. He was so very proud of his Saxon heritage.
Mexico and the warm sun were a second choice especially once winter came. His favourite times were spent playing a good game of chess, backgammon, a walk on the beach, or a daily swim in the local pool, being surrounded by close friends, always willing to chat and enjoy each day.
After years of being part of a successful family business in Winnipeg (Transylvania Inn & Weber's Meats), he retired in South Surrey where he raised his family and welcomed his grandchildren.
He found joy and meaning in his almost 89 years in the knowledge he was loved and truly valued. The greatest legacy to his family is the love and compassion he extended to us.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, son Michael, daughter-in-law Catherine, and his two grandchildren Caroline and Markus.
He is also survived by his two brothers (Martin and Andreas), his nieces (Tracy, Andrea, Heidi, and Anna Marie), cousins, and all their families in Canada and Europe.
May he rest in Peace.
We love you always and forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer.
