September 18, 1946 – May 14, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Franklin McCallum. Born Sept 18, 1946 in Agassiz, BC. John passed away peacefully at Chilliwack General Hospital on May 14, 2023 at the age of 76.
John was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Mary, and brother Alfred (Maria).
He is survived by his sister Darlene (Al), son Shaun (Ruth) and grandchildren Trevor and Hailey.
John’s passion for driving became his career. He drove semi tractor trailers in and around BC, Alta etc for numerous companies as well as having had his own truck. He worked for Dairyland (Agri-Foods) for most of his career and after retiring he continued to drive trucks locally for a number of different companies including Bert Sauer Trucking (Kal Tire) and Chilliwack Sand and Gravel.
One of his favorite past times was his love for boating, whether it be towing his son, his family or his friends skiing on Cultus Lake, Harrison Lake or doing real estate cruises on the waters of Osoyoos Lake.
John also had a passion for old cars, trucks and hot rods, and he could frequently be found at the weekly car shows at Burger King (later Kal Tire) and any car shows in the Fraser Valley.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 3rd 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Slesse Room at the Evergreen Hall.
