In loving memory ~
John, AKA Ian, was a longtime resident of Mission. He was born in Montreal on November 25, 1945, the beloved son of John Galbraith and Maude Elizabeth Galbraith (née Gardner) of “Bonny Scotland.”
Ian took the road of hard work and honesty. Pivoting from an esteemed career in computers to a revered position with the Government of Canada as well as service to his country in the Navy.
Intellectual, dynamic, as well as kind and reserved. Ian could hold a conversation on a vast array of topics; particularly politics, economics, cars and music. Music was his soul and refuge. Ian attended a free concert in 1967, called The Summer of Love Concert in San Francisco. The headliners were Jimmi Hendrix and Jefferson Starship. This concert left an indelible mark on this 21-year-old lad. Till the end, he was editing and putting together mixtapes and videos for his friends.
John is predeceased by his three wonderful sisters, Sheila Maude Jones, Janet Carins Johnstone and Elizabeth Helen Lawton. He will always be loved and missed by his 7 nieces and nephews, Nancy Jones, Stewart Jones and Boudina Jones (née Witteveen), Donna Swaile (née Jones) and Brian Swaile, Judy Turner (née Johnstone) and Gary Turner, Scott Johnstone and Patti Jonstone (née McPherson), Jennifer Lawton-Pal and Steven Pal and Robert Lawton and Trish Lawton (née Gibowicz) and many grand nieces, cousins, and friends.
