With great sadness, Joan passed away peacefully in her sleep on Christmas Eve, in Ladysmith B.C. Joan was predeceased in death by her husband Ian Mckay for who she was married for 32 years. They raised their three sons Timothy (Jodi), Stanley (Lleanne), and Greg in the Cowichan Valley. Joan was also a Grandma to four grandchildren Alexis, Kate-Lynne (Tim), Grace, and Lucy (Stan). Joan was loved by her siblings Donald (predeceased) (Erna), Johnny (Diana), and Carla (Bob), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joan was born in Kamloops, B.C. and grew up in the interior where she met Ian. They moved to the island and settled in Crofton to raise their family.
Not only a wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan was also a great cook, knitter, crafter, baker, and homemaker. Joan's great sense of humour, her great laugh, and her kind heart will be greatly missed by all.
