In Loving Memory (1922-2022) ~
Sadly on January 8, 2022 mom passed away peacefully at Mt Ida Mews. She was 99 years old. Jean was born in Hamilton Ontario, spending her early years in Dunnville Ontario and Buffalo NY. Her father, having suffered lung damage in WW1 was under doctor`s orders to seek a drier climate if he was going to live.
In 1939 the family packed up and headed west, driving across the US before heading up into Canada. A chance visit to Kamloops to visit an old friend from the army led them to Blind Bay where the family bought property on Shuswap Lake.
The war brought lean times to the Shuswap and mom and her dad temporarily moved to Vancouver for work in order to support the family. After WWII Jean returned to the Shuswap and married Jack Reedman, there they raised 3 children.
Mom grew up in a different era where things weren`t as plentiful as today... she saved everything that could be repurposed, and could fix anything, whether it be the hole in your socks or the knees of your pants.
Jean was an accomplished musician, oil painter, enjoyed golfing with her friend Duffy and was an amazing cook...always lots of delicious deserts. She enjoyed travel and cruising. Jean loved cats but more than cats she loved chocolate! She resided on the original Reedman homestead property into her mid 90's until she was no longer able to live on her own.
She is predeceased by her parents Clarence and Margaret Durham, husband Jack, three brothers, Earl, Mac and Jim.
She is survived by three children, Heather (David), Cheri (Mike), Doug, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
We will carry your memories in our hearts. Thanks to the caregivers at Mt Ida Mews. The family will gather in the summer for a celebration of life.
