Nettie, 87 years of age, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 10th, at 2pm at Bethel Reformed Church, Gladwin Road, Abbotsford.
Nettie was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands on February 27, 1936 and was the youngest of four children. She married Ewald van der Velden on March 14, 1963, and then emigrated to Canada two weeks later.
Nettie is survived by her loving and devoted husband Ewald, her children Mike (Zuzana) and Joanne (Rick), and six grandchildren.
The family of Nettie wishes to extend their sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at Bevan Village where she spent the last two years of her life, and the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff of Abbotsford Regional Hospital who treated Nettie with such compassion.
