May 19, 1932 - March 3, 2023
In loving memory ~
Jacquelyn Hansen, 90, of Tofino, B.C., passed away on March 3rd, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer. Jacq was born on May 19th, 1932 to Spencer and Juliet Pallot in New Westminster. In her early 20s, Jacq visited Tofino with a friend for a week-long trip. She returned when she was offered a job at the Tofino Co-Op (which was located at the bottom of 1st St at the time). She soon met 'a certain Norwegian fellow' who swept her off her feet. Walter and Jacquelyn were married in November of 1953 and their 4 children followed.
Many locals became familiar with Jacq's face when she collected their taxes and issued business licenses at the Village Office where she worked for well over 25 years. In her free time, she enjoyed bus trips to Reno with her friends, playing cards, going to Bingo at the Legion and cussing at the tourists blocking her driveway. She was a proud Lifetime Legion Member and a dedicated 6/49 player.
She is predeceased by her husband Walter Hansen, her son, Stan Hansen, brother Dave Pallot and sister Dot Gibson. She will be greatly missed by daughters Lorrie (Gerry) and Phyllis (Colin) and son Ole Hansen, her 9 grandchildren Wendy, Inar, TJ, Mindy-J, Jana, Eric, Eve, Bailey and Risa, 8 great-grandchildren and her special friend Camilla. She will also be missed by her favourite 4-legged companion Carson.
Jacq will always be remembered for her great laugh and quick-witted sense of humour.
A celebration in honour of her life may be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Tofino General Hospital Foundation P.O. Box 190, Tofino, B.C. V0R 2Z0.
