THIESSEN; Jacob (Jac) Ronald

July 8, 1912 ~ July 9, 2015

Abbotsford, British Columbia

Jac went to his heavenly reward on July 9th, 2015. Jac was born in Greehfarm, SK. In 1926 his family moved to Rhineland, SK where he met Sarah Friesen and they married in 1932. In 1938 they moved to Abbotsford after suffering through years of the Great Depression. Three children were born in Saskatchewan and two more were born in Abbotsford. Jac was competent at many things; carpentry, mechanics, electrical circuitry and more. He worked at the construction of the Abbotsford Airport earning enough to build a garage on Clearbrook Road. In retirement he was creative in his woodworking shop. Dad was active in his devotion to the Lord. He taught Sunday school, was an elder at West Heights Gospel Chapel where he did some preaching. He loved God’s word and loved the Lord. He was predeceased by his wife Sarah in 1992 after 60 years of marriage, all of his siblings, his son Harvey, son-in-law Elmer Redekop and two grandchildren. He is survived by son Jack, daughter Linda, son Ed (Eleanor), son Bob (Louise), 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. We will miss him, his wisdom about many things, his love for his family and extended family. We sincerely thank the staff at the cottage for their kind care of Dad for the past 3 years and for the kind consideration shown by Dr. Pauls. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday July 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Gideons International Canada.
