It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jack Mitansky. Jack passed away peacefully on December 13, 2018, at the Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna, his grandson, Daylen, his stepchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren to which he was best known as “Gedo”. Jack was predeceased recently by his son Ken Mitansky and his brother Henry.
Jack was born on March 5th, 1934 and raised on the familly farm in Andrew, Alberta. Jack served in the Edmonton Police Force in the 1950’s after which he farmed for many years east of Edmonton. He then had a career with the Alberta Government before retiring to the Okanagan. Jack and Donna moved to the Okanagan in 1993 and he enjoyed gardening as well as playing and listening to music with local bluegrass groups in and around the Okanagan.
We would like to thank the staff and his doctors at the Penticton Hospital for their kindness and support to Jack. They went above and beyond their professional care levels. A special thanks also to his kind friends and neighbours for their support during Jack and Donna’s time of need.
There will be no formal service. If you wish to make a donation in Jack’s memory, donations can be made to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation.
Condolences can be made to the family through www.providencefuneralhomes.com or 250-493-1774.
