March 3, 1927 – July 15, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother Ivy Jean Kuchel (neeSalt) on July 15th, 2023, wife of John Kuchel (deceased). Beloved daughter of George and Susan, twin to Elizabeth and a sister to Marjorie, George, Arthur, and Eleanor.
She is survived by her sister Iris. She is survived by her son Brian (Debbie), daughter Brenda (Randy Norrish), grandchildren Craig (Kabrina), Danielle (Allan), Jonathan, Jenica (Jason), Carly (Mark), great-grandchildren Jax, Cooper, Blakely, Nellie, Sydney and Gabi and numerous nieces, and nephews.
In 1954 her roommate was going on a blind date and two men showed up at the door, the roommate chose the wrong guy and Mom got the right one. Nine months later they were married on December 26th, 1954. Dad had two stipulations, she had to learn how to golf and play bridge, and she did both. Throughout their marriage, they travelled extensively to all parts of the world. They golfed, curled, cross-country skied and in her early 60’s she learned to downhill ski. They loved to walk, play cards, and drop in to the Schubert Centre and always had a drink before dinner. Unfortunately, we lost Dad in 2009. Mom stayed on in the apartment and her next move was to The Vernon Rest Home. In 2018, after her health deteriorated, she moved into Noric House. The care and friendships she made at both places have meant a lot to our family. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
We will lay Mom to rest with Dad and then our family will raise a glass of Crown Royal in memory of her.Obituary-
