In loving memory ~
It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, lovingly referred to as Mom and Nana. She grew up in Sidney, B.C., where she met our dad, her beloved Ed, who was stationed in the R.C.A.F. in Sidney. They lived in New Westminster for a few years and then moved back to the Island and settled in Lake Cowichan in 1949. Mom worked with her dad as a postal carrier and then as a telephone operator and retired as a postal clerk.
Mom loved spending time in her garden and found a new hobby in her ceramics. Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling around our country and had many special times with their many relatives. Mom's family was her pride and joy, and she loved our family reunions, where she would always make a speech and thank everyone for being there. Christmas was also a special time, especially Christmas Eve when all the grandkids would come for a visit from Santa.
Predeceased by our dad and our oldest sister, Verla and her husband, Carl. Survived by her seven children, Sylvia (Ken), Bruce (Judy), Clark (Judy), Terry (Joanne), Dwain, Valerie (Eric) and Veronica (Tom), 23 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Marge and May, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Special thank you to Dr. Peter Postuk and all the care workers at Sunridge Place, who cared so well for her.
No service by request, a family gathering will be held at a later date.
Although she didn't make it to her 100th birthday, she will be forever in our hearts. Have a rest now mom, at 99 you deserve it.
