Ida Marie Toms

March 1, 1921 – November 14, 2022
In loving memory ~
With sadness and love we announce the passing of Ida Toms, November 14, 2022 at Piccadilly Lodge with family by her side.
Ida was born on the farm in Pine River Manitoba to Mary and William (Gabe) Bourgeois, their second child and oldest daughter of seven children.
In her late teens Ida started her career as a nanny, and in her twenties took a job with a husband and wife team of Pediatricians who had four children. In the early 1940’s she moved with them from Manitoba to North Vancouver; apparently the car trip through the mountains in that era was quite an experience for a Prairie girl. While living in North Vancouver Ida met Fred Toms whom she married in 1947. They had three children and in 1965 moved to Salmon Arm where Ida was very active in the Catholic Church, needle arts and quilting clubs.
Ida was predeceased by all of her siblings, her husband Fred and her son Cliff. She is survived by her daughters Marie and Trish, her daughter-in-law Lynne, grandchildren Jillean, Colin, Catherine, Jennifer, Jonathon, great grandchildren Fiona, Théo, Maverick, Aiden, Rowan, Randi, Robert and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Piccadilly Lodge, Shuswap Lodge and Doctor’s Liz Willms and Andrea Rose for all their care over the past six years.
A Funeral mass will take place on November 30th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Salmon Arm.
