1924 – 2016

We regret to announce the passing of Howard Earl Johnson at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Wednesday, June 8th, 2016.

Howard is survived by his loving family: granddaughter, Angela; great grandchildren, Niki and Lee; and son-in-law, Rudi Van Nes.  He was predeceased by his wife, Lill, in 2007 and by his only daughter, Valerie Van Nes in 2012.

He was born in Saskatchewan, married Lill in 1948, and spent a good portion of his life farming on the Prairies. He and Lill, when farm-time permitted,

loved going to dances at Liberty Hall and barn dances on a farm near Aquadell where Howard’s father’s band played. In 1993, Howard and Lill relocated to Vernon to be near their daughter and granddaughter.

Howard was a longtime member of the Schubert Centre and Halina Centre and could be found dancing every week well into his 90’s. He enjoyed tinkering in the shop, tending his strawberries and strolling Coldstream’s roads several times each day.

Howard touched many hearts with his kind soul – always a smile and kind gesture for everyone. The family will not be having a service but ask that friends and acquaintances take time to remember Howard in their own special way.

Arrangements have been entrusted to PLEASANT VALLEY DIGNITY FUNERAL HOME, 4303 P.V. Road, Vernon, B.C. V1T 4M4 Phone: (250) 542-4333. Condolences may be offered at
