Henry Joseph “Hank” Alexis

(August 25, 1925 to April 25, 2008)

Henry, better known as “Hank” Joseph “Man” passed away April 25, 2008, in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, at the age of 82 years old in the presence of family and friends. Hank was born and raised on the Okanagan Indian reserve, in the area known to locals as “Townsite”. Hank was predeceased by his father Johnny Alexis and mother Ella Jane (Cameron), brothers, Arrod Lincoln, Jesse James, Herbert “Banker”, Lawrence Graden, Murray James, and sister, Helen Elizabeth “Tex”. Hank is survived by Aunt Lucy Brett (Cameron), brothers John “Tim”, and Arnold Louette, and sisters, Susan Hall (Alexis) and Cecile Alexis plus numerous nieces and nephews.

As the eldest of 11 siblings, Hank was best known for his musical talents mastering various guitars such as the Acoustic, Steel, and Electric Base.

He began playing guitar at a young age. Hank along with his brothers Murray, Graden, Tim and Banker played locally at many dances through out the valley. Hank, Banker and Murray even performed on air for CJIB at their “Studio Party”. Hank continued jamming with family and friends and spent many hours playing music with the old-timers at the Armstrong and Vernon Legions.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday April 30th, 2008 at 11:00 am in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church with Father Martin officiating. Interment to follow in the Komasket Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the care they provided.
