He was Morfar (mother's father) to Des and Julia, Felicity and Paul, Heather, Alison and Tim, Rita, and Ole and Hamish and Farfar (father's father) to Ray, Charity, Amber and Chad.
There are many great grandchildren and a huge extended family in many parts of Denmark.
With his good friend, Peter Hansen, Henning immigrated to Canada in 1949. Their ship docked at Pier 21 in Halifax and they took the train across Canada. It was just our wonderful luck that Henning was dropped off at Cobble Hill Train Station.
On Christmas Eve, 1950, he married fiancé Inger Marie Hansen after being separated from her for a year and a half.
The family was raised on the farm in Cowichan Station on Mom and Dad's good food. We will all miss those great Danish meals.
Henning looked after horses in Denmark, was a carpenter, farmer, an avid reader and an antique car enthusiast. He loved to travel. Henning got up with the sun, often had beer with lunch and dinner, and tended a huge vegetable garden until he was 97.
We are grateful to the staff at Cairnsmore, who cared for Henning with such attentiveness and humour.
