February 21, 1938 - August 15, 2023
In loving memory ~
Harry "Dee" Higgins was born in Salmon Arm, B.C., on February 21, 1938, and passed away peacefully at the Agassiz Seniors Community Home on August 15, 2023.
Dee was predeceased by his wife, Joanne, and his daughter, Beverly Dunn.
He is survived by his sister Denise (Higgins) Grams, two sons, Kelly (Colleen) and Rick (Mel) Higgins, and his daughter, Wendye (Dean) Hootnick as well as his two stepsons, Brad (Sandi) Rice and Bill (Wanda) Rice and his stepdaughter, Diane Baker, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dee worked for many years as a millwright. He enjoyed travelling in his RV with his wife, his extended family, and many friends, and puttering around his home-based workshop where he would be busy building, fixing, and repairing. At one point he completely renovated his rec room to include a beautiful bar.
In 2000, just months before his retirement, Dee faced a challenging stroke that altered the course of his life. Despite this, he, with Joanne at his side and unwavering support from his family that lived close by, managed those years with a light heart and a smile on his face.
Dee will be remembered for his big heart, his contagious laugh, and his sense of humour.
At Dee's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be much appreciated.
