Greta passed away at the Windermere Care Centre, Vancouver, BC on April 27th, 2022.
Greta was born at the family farm east of the small village of Vantage, Saskatchewan, on December 8th, 1933. She attended the small Hilton neighbourhood school to grade 8 when she went to Assiniboia boarding school to complete grade 12.
Greta's mother Betsy was a schoolteacher and she wanted Greta to have her education. Greta's next step was to Regina College for one year, followed by a year at the University of Alberta, Edmonton where she attained her BA. This was followed by working for the Department of Social Services, Saskatchewan in the Yorkton office.
She met Patrick (RCMP) in Yorkton. Greta wished to continue in Social Services and was accepted at the University of BC to complete and receive her degree (BSW) in Social Work. Marriage took Greta to places where she worked as a Social Worker; Winnipeg, Ottawa (Children's Aid Society), and Regina (Rehabilitation Hospital). Transfers had Greta and her family residing in Red Deer, Vermilion, Provost, and Canmore, Alberta, Ottawa, and Regina.
When transferred to Maple Ridge, BC Greta decided to take up bookkeeping which she enjoyed. She also took an interest in the stock market and over many years she made more than she lost.
Greta received the "Second Man Award" from the RCMP, for her volunteer efforts assisting the public, answering the police door and phone, and issuing wildlife permits when her husband was absent on other duties.
In retirement, Greta enjoyed car trips to the Yukon and Northwest Territories, bus tours in Europe, and cruises on Holland America to many places in Europe, South America, Australia, and New Zealand.
Later in her life, Greta began to suffer from dementia which led to her residency to long term care.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Betsy Greulich, brother Robert, and son Brian, age 63, in 2020.
Greta is survived by her husband, Patrick, of Burnaby, BC, and son Grant (Lori), Grandson, Scott, Granddaughter, Michelle (Shaun), Great grandson, Oliver, age 3.5, and Great grandson, Jack, age 2 months, all of Chilliwack, BC.
