In loving memory ~
We are terribly saddened by the sudden and tragic passing of our dear Greg in a traffic accident.
Greg leaves his wife, Laurie; son Jason, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and sisters Marilyne Lorenzo and Pam Royan (Dennis).
He is predeceased by his parents, George, and Jean Voysey; his sister, Louise Voysey and his brother Dennis Voysey.
Greg was born and raised in Port Alberni, graduating from Alberni District Secondary School. He was active in the Barry Miller Band, playing tenor Sax, often performing solo or in a quartet.
Greg was very active in the community during his school years as well, becoming a member of the Cubs and Scouts, a hockey team, a lacrosse team, karate, and his favourite, a motocross club.
After graduation, he moved to Nanaimo for several years where he worked at various jobs. When Greg and Laurie married, they moved, eventually, to Powell River where he worked in the logging industry, becoming an engineering supervisor for a number of years.
They moved again, finally settling in Ashcroft where Greg worked as a supervisor for Kopper, an American company, that manufactures railroad ties and bridge spans. Greg was recognized by Kopper as a valued employee who, not only helped those citizens who were about to lose a home or had lost a home to forest fire (they lost one themselves) but worked shifts of long nights to prevent fire damage to Kopper facilities.
One of two things Greg saved from their own house fire was his beloved Harley Davidson bike (and his truck). In earlier years he and Laurie would cruise down to the states meeting up with friends and touring. He cruised on his own whenever he was able.
He loved Mexico too. He and Laurie went often, renting a house and a car in various towns, exploring the area, and mingling with the locals. Greg often talked about wanting to retire there.
Of course, he loved B.C., especially touring the back roads wherever he lived. He was always eager to show family when visiting, beautiful and interesting areas, sometimes travelling many miles to do so.
We will miss our precious times together.
We will miss our dear Greg.
A memoriam for Greg will be held at a later date.
