In Loving Memory ~
It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Gordon Ryan. He died peacefully at the Uplands Senior Village in Nanaimo on December 24, 2022. Born April 24, 1942, in Chemainus and growing up in Nanaimo.
His fishing career began in his preteens when he’d troll, rowing a ski through Newcastle Channel before going to school many a morning. During the school summer holidays, he accompanied his dad fishing on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
When he had his own boat he shed all around Vancouver Island spending quite a few years around the Port Hardy area trolling before planning for international tuna fishing. Moose hunting and Western music were a couple of things enjoyed.
Gordon is survived by his sisters Doll Hiley and Shirley Morelli, and by brothers Gary (Peg) and Joe (Tina).
Predeceased by his mother Sally, his father Norman, sister Noreen McNulty, and brothers-in-law Bill Timmins and Pat Hiley.
A special thanks to the Walkosky family especially Anne, Ted, David & Evelyn for their hospitality and tender-loving care throughout the years Gord spent in your presence.
A celebration of life will be held February 23, 2023, at the Order of Moose Lodge on Cranberry Avenue, Nanaimo 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
