October 2, 1931 - July 15, 2023
On July 15, 2023, Stan passed away peacefully at the age of 91. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen (Kath), daughter, Gail and son-in-law, Craig.
Born in Nanaimo on October 2, 1931, Stan began his working life at Kelly Douglas Wholesale and then opened a barber shop in Harewood after completing barber training in Vancouver. Later, he began working at BC Ferries and continued there until his retirement.
In retirement, Stan began oil painting, depicting the birds, animals, and landscapes of Canada that he had seen on his many fishing and hunting trips. He also enjoyed woodworking, especially the hand carving of duck decoys. He spent many happy hours working in his vegetable and berry garden. An avid walker, he was a regular at the Morrell Sanctuary and on the Parkway Trail.
Donations in memory of Stan may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC or BC Cancer. At Stan's request, there will be no service.
