June 10, 1969 - May 13, 2023
Geoff Postle, a strong, kind, beautiful man who impacted the lives of many, passed away unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on May 13, 2023. He was surrounded by the serenity of his backyard, eagerly awaiting the arrival of his loving wife to embark on a day of ocean boating. Geoff's untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on June 10th, 1969 in Edmonton, Alberta, Geoff was the cherished son of Shirley Postle and the late Neil Postle. Growing up in Cherryville, he was a dear brother to his sister Christie Johnston. Geoff's cousin, Scott, was like a brother to him, sharing a lifelong bond that enriched both of their lives. Geoff married his soulmate Erin on July 17th, 1999, and was the proud father of his two daughters Sydney and Jessica. He held a special place in the hearts of his nephews Jared, Tyler and Jack, and his niece Calla. Geoff shared a deep and loving connection with his extended family: Margaret and Simon, Todd, Angela and Brad, Russell and Katie.
Geoff's life was characterized by extraordinary success, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals. As an elite Air Force Search and Rescue Technician and a volunteer rugby coach, he impacted the lives of thousands of people. Geoff's natural gift for teaching and his innate leadership qualities made him an exceptional mentor. He fearlessly put his life on the line numerous times to serve his country, rescuing and recovering fellow Canadians lost at sea and in the wilderness. In the later years of his career, he dedicated himself to the military reserves, instructing and leading a new generation of young search and rescue technicians.
A true lover of the outdoors, Geoff found solace and joy in hunting. Sharing this passion with a close-knit group of friends and his cousin Scott created cherished memories and deepened their bonds of friendship. Geoff was not only an avid outdoorsman but also a natural teacher. He took great pride in sharing his skills and knowledge with others, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to learn from him.
While Geoff's professional achievements were significant, he considered his greatest source of pride to be his two daughters, Jessica and Sydney. His unconditional love and unwavering support shaped them into the remarkable individuals they are today. Geoff's dedication as a father knew no bounds, and his impact as a loving parent will forever resonate in the lives of his daughters.
Geoff's marriage to his beautiful wife, Erin, spanned 24 years and was an extraordinary testament to the power of love, chemistry and companionship. Their relationship inspired many, showcasing the depth of their connection and leaving an everlasting impression on those around them.
A celebration of Geoff's remarkable life journey will be held on June 24th, 2023 (details to follow). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Geoff Postle Memorial Rugby Fund on GoFundMe.
