We are very sad to announce the passing of our dear Frannie of complications from pneumonia. Frances Anne Ostafew was born March 21, 1942 in Vernon, B.C. and died September 1, 2023 in Nanaimo.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Olga Ostafew.
She leaves behind her partner of 40 years, Anne, her loving family and many friends. She will be sadly missed by Auntie Phyllis, her two younger brothers and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Fran was an OR nurse and long-term care nurse here in B.C. as well as 2 years in Afghanistan in the late 60s. She was a caring, quirky person who loved a bargain. She eagerly awaited the weekly grocery flyers!
Her sense of humour was legendary. Those who knew Fran well knew she cared deeply for them, even though they didn't always heed her advice.
At Fran's request, there will be no funeral. No flowers by request but donations to your local food bank would honour Fran, who often supported Loaves and Fishes in Nanaimo.
