January 14, 1941 - December 23, 2022
In loving memory ~
We are sad to announce the passing of our Husband, Dad, and Grampa, Eric Kinney, on the early morning of December 23rd, 2022, at the Views Care Facility in Comox B.C. Eric passed away peacefully after a long journey with Dementia and Parkinson's disease. Eric is survived by his loving wife Lori of 53 years, son Warren and wife Christina, son Darren, and granddaughters Camryn and Nicole. Eric also leaves a younger sister Marilyn with her husband Harry and their 3 sons and families. Eric also will be missed by many good friends who have fond memories of his humorous nature. Eric loved to create nicknames for people, and his friends also referred to him as "Mr. Pooh," or "Pudge."
Eric and Lori lived with their family for many years in Tahsis, B.C., and Eric worked In Blowhole Bay on Nootka Island as a logger. When he wasn't working, he loved to fish and go prawning, and boating was his life outside of work. He was also always busy working on projects around the house and was known as a great "Chinese Food" cook, where he would cook for large gatherings of friends and family. Eric also spent a brief period in the Royal Canadian Navy in his late teens.
Eric was Loving, Loyal, and Fun. Making jokes and laughing and teasing was what He was known for, and he enjoyed that right up until the end. He will be remembered as a great husband and dad, grandfather, and friend to many.
The family would like to say thank you to all the staff at The Views that cared for him, you are so appreciated, and a special thank you to Dr. Itta Winter for her kind and compassionate care.
And a special thank you goes out to friends of the family that supported Eric and Lori through the challenging times of the last few years. We know that Eric is laughing and smiling at us all now while he rests in peace with his pets and friends that have been waiting for him.
Rest In Peace Eric Until We Meet Again
