Emily Arden Dahl

Emily Arden Dahl

It is with profound sadness that the family of Emily Dahl announces her sudden passing on January 26, 2019 at the age of 18 years.

Emily is survived by her loving mother, Tammie and her loving father Sherman (Katie); her brothers Nicholas and Jackson; grandparents, Sherman Sr. and Donna Dahl; nanny and bubba, Robert and Faye Morrison and all her family members and friends.

Born November 28, 2000, in Vernon BC, Emily graduated from Fulton High School in 2018 and her list of achievements are simply too many to list. Emily was an amazing person who touched so many lives. She was an incredible athlete excelling at everything she did. Emily was a leader on and off the court and all of her coaches developed a special bond with her as she was an extremely hard worker and very coachable. She would quickly rise to the top in all that she did. She was a very strong alpine ski racer, excelled on the soccer fields but her true love was volleyball. She played club volleyball in Vernon, BC every year right up to 2018 and attended numerous competitions at both the provincial and national levels.

Emily was also an avid traveler and had just recently returned from a three month trip to Belize —

a place that she truly loved. In 2016 she celebrated her 16th birthday in Maui and then in 2017 she did a one month trip on her own to Australia. She was home only for a few weeks and she was off again to Ottawa for a Fulton Law trip. Throughout this entire time, she worked at Wings Vernon in order to save her own money so that she could plan for herself upon graduation. As University approached Emily decided more travel was in order and she headed on her trip to Belize and had the time of her life. Upon her return Emily moved to Quesnel BC to dive into work so she could in her own words “make bank” for her next trip.

The truly special thing about Emily was how loving she was towards anyone that she came in contact with and how she could light up an entire room with her wonderful smile. Emily seemed to know that you should really measure the success of your life by how many of the people you want to have love you, actually do love you. Emily came upon this naturally … she understood the only way to get love is to be lovable. The more you give love away, the more you get. Friendships and love for all the people around her is what made her life so special and she will never be forgotten. Emily will be in our hearts forever and so will all the love.

We love you Emily and we miss you!

A Celebration of Emily’s Life will be held at The Vernon Performance Arts Centre Sunday , February 10, 2019 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. with reflections from her family and friends at 3:00 pm If friends so desire, donations can be made to The Sky Volleyball Club, in memory of Emily Dahl.
