August 22, 1951 – June 13, 2023
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Hemminger on June 13, 2023 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Blairmore, AB. She was 71 years of age.
Elizabeth was born in Nelson, BC on August 22, 1951 to parents, John and Mary Konkin. Along with her siblings, she was raised to be a kind, caring person who was always willing to help others. These lovely qualities, among many others, drew the attention of Ward Hemminger and Elizabeth quickly won his heart. The happy couple wed on November 13, 1970 and went on to be blessed with a family of their own whom they raised in a warm, nurturing home.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was well-known for her wonderful cooking and baking. When she wasn’t busy taking care of her family, she enjoyed reading, solving word puzzles and watching scary movies. She also liked spending time outdoors while gardening, going for walks and bird-watching. Elizabeth will be forever loved and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children, Trevor Hemminger of Sundre, AB, Wayde (Meryia) Hemminger of Hillcrest, AB and Nicole Hemminger of Kamloops, BC; her grandchildren, Rhett, Ginger, Tate, Max, Macy, Alexa and Arianna; her brother, Gary of Castlegar, BC; her sisters, Martha of Kamloops, BC, Katie of Castlegar, BC and Marianne of Castlegar, BC; as well as her extended family and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ward Hemminger; her parents, John and Mary Konkin; her brothers, John Konkin and Walter Konkin; and her sister, Louise Loff.
A private family service will be held in Castlegar, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation “Greatest Need” (PO Box 455 Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
