September 4, 1938 - March 16, 2023
In loving memory ~
Edwin Denis McRae of Chase, B.C., passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023. Ed was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan on September 4, 1938. He is predeceased by his parents John and Annie McRae, sister Shirley Driedger and nephews Darryl and Kenny. He is survived by his wife Pauline, brothers Cecil and Wesley, daughters Holly (Phil) Jones, Kelly (Gerry) Rundel, Carol (Brad) Osaduik, and Deana McRae, grandchildren Dalton, Conlan, Morgan, Alden, Randi, Brodie, Steven, Stefani, Sheldon, and Laura, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Ed was raised on a farm in northern Saskatchewan. Never one to stay put for too long and with family in tow, Ed went to teacher's college and taught school in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and at the Adam's Lake Band School in Chase, B.C. He worked for the federal government in Kamloops and Canada Manpower in Port Alberni. Eventually, he started a furnace cleaning business and later a pest extermination business. Finally, he settled back in Chase with Pauline.
Ed always maintained his love of the family ranch in Saskatchewan, hunting (legal and questionable), spotting wildlife, taking long drives on the back roads, travelling locally and overseas, helping others, and spending time with family, friends, and pets. He had a great sense of humour and especially enjoyed sharing his past stories, most of which had a significant element of mischief. For this, he will be remembered and greatly missed.
Thank you to all the Chase Medical Clinic staff, Royal Inland Hospital staff, and physicians who provided attentive and timely care to Ed in recent years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chase Health Foundation to support local wellness initiatives within the community at Box 1099 Chase, B.C. VOE 1MO.
