In Loving Memory ~
It is with profound and deep sadness the family of Edward Neil Cook announce his passing on September 13, 2023, in Salmon Arm, B.C. at the age of 86. Dad was born in Mountview, NB to the late Earl and Nita (Bowser) Cook on January 9, 1937.
Dad worked in the mines in northern Manitoba when he was very young, then went on to become a mechanic and finally a teacher of mechanics at Tantramar Regional High School in Sackville NB. He always loved working with his students and fought to keep the trades a viable option for study in the school system.
With the help of fellow teacher and friend Rod Smith, they built a cottage on PEI which family and many, many friends enjoyed for several years. After the sale of that, he and Mum began what would become a lifelong passion for travelling with their RV throughout North America.
Once retired, he and Mum moved to Cherryville, BC while spending winters in the south in Arizona and California. They moved to Salmon Arm once they stopped travelling south where they enjoyed several years before Mum's passing.
Dad loved animals but most especially cats, and the one he left behind has gone to live with his grandson and granddaughter-in-law in Victoria. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and we often joked that he should have been a pioneer. We will most especially miss his dry wit and sharp sense of humour.
Edward was predeceased by his wife Viola in 2021 and his son Derek in 2015.
He is survived by his daughter Janet (Dave) Comox B.C., his son Roger (Sherri) Courtenay B.C., his grandsons Adam (Kayli), Noah, and his granddaughters Sophie (River) and Bronwen.
If so desired donations to charities of choice or the SPCA in Dad's memory would be most appreciated.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital, especially Dr. Erasmus Bonthuys and Dad's nurse Jenna.
