June 12, 1947 - November 24, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

Edith (Edie) Norma Leben (nee Bone), passed away peacefully on Sunday, 24 November 2024 with her husband Donald, daughter Sharon, and son Brian by her bedside.

Edie was born on the 12 June 1947 to Allan and Verna Bone. After graduating from high school, she completed nurses training at the Loraine School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1968. She then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was commissioned as a lieutenant nursing sister. Posted to CFB Chatham, NB, she met and married her husband of 53 years - Don. Together they raised their three children - Michael, Brian and Sharon (Andridge).

Always supportive of Don's career moves, Edie was the bed rock of the family. During Don's work absences, it was the steady, caring hand of Edie that raised and guided the maturing of their three children.

After Don's retirement from flying, Edie joined him in running Leben's Accounting in Creston, BC. Together they enjoyed travelling the world - China, Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Egypt, to name a few. Finally in 2020, they decided to move to Edmonton to be closer to Sharon and Brian and their families, including daughter-in-law Shelley, granddaughter Kyra and grandson Richard.

Edie's passing has left a large hole in the hearts of her immediate family, her brother and sister in-laws and their families; as well as her close friends in Creston, B.C.

She will be dearly missed by all

Rest in peace, Edie.

A private graveside ceremony will be held in Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Edie's name to spinal cord research (Gosgnach Lab, University of Alberta, Edmonton).
